An excellent narrative by a former member of the Glider Pilot Regiment,
describing his experiences during WW2. The author kept a diary all through his
wartime duties in the British Army. He compiled the original notes in 1946 as a
way of dealing with the regular nightmares of reliving his experiences and the never
forgotten feelings of his fallen comrades. It was not until 1994 that his sons were
able to persuade him to get his memoirs published. The book is an accurate and
lively account of his experiences as a glider pilot and he received many letters
from readers who found the book a vivid depiction of life and death during WW2.
It's a wonderful tribute to those brave men of the Airborne Forces
