Small paperback booklet.50 Pages, probably from around 1950.
Written by Joop Zeldenrust, printed by "Adremo" Oosterbeek.
It is a personal account of a civilian who was imprisoned in 'Camp Mooiland'
or also called "Lager Scharnhorst" in Doorwerth.
Originally an old peoples home, the Germans made a prison camp of it
in october 1944 after the old people were evacuated.
The prisoners of this Camp were forced to dig the trenches and to build the
fortifications along the river Rhine after the Battle of Arnhem. They lived
under very bad circumstances in the Camp and some managed to escape whilst working
outside the Camp. Another booklet on this subject is written by Mr. Leloux from
the Arnhem Archive, it is named "Huize Mooi-Land in herfst en winter
'44-'45 'Lager Scharnhorst'" .
